Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that Benton County Treasurer Richard Renno has resigned from office, days after Bailey filed of a petition for writ of quo warranto seeking his immediate and permanent removal.
Attorney General Bailey’s petition outlined the allegations against Renno, including his arrest on felony sex charges involving a minor, use of taxpayer time to engage in predatory behavior, and failure to fulfill statutory duties as the sole employee of the Treasurer’s Office.
Attorney General Bailey reminds the public that the charges against Renno are allegations and, as in all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
