
James Thomas Gilpin, Jr., 55, of Slater, MO, died Friday, July 18, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Marshall Family Worship Center with Mark Gooden officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Born July 18, 1970, in Carrollton, MO, he was the son of the late James Thomas Gilpin and Betty Kay Mitchell Gilpin. Jim lived in Saline County most of his life where he was a 1988 graduate of Marshall High School. On July 20, 2012, he married Sheryl Lynn Todd who preceded him in death on January 11, 2024. Jim loved fishing and playing catch with the grandkids. He loved celebrating the 4th of July, and he was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Jim loved his family and friends who knew him as Uncle Jimmy.
He is survived by six children: Khristofer Todd (Amanda) of Alva, OK, Destiny Bryson (Casey) of Slater, Jerrad Gilpin, Nickolas Todd of Slater, Jayme Gilpin of Slater and James Gilpin of Slater; eight grandchildren; one sister, Julie Gilpin of Marshall; as well as other extended family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty; his wife, Sheryl; one sister, Janet Cowan; one nephew, Caleb Stathem; and one great-nephew, Dorian Lara.
