The Carrollton Town Council approved an ordinance Monday night finalizing the conditional use permit discussed at their previous meeting.

The council adopted the ordinance that puts into effect the permit granted to a new bed and breakfast that will soon open on West Washington. Also at Monday night’s meeting, pitches for two developments in the city were made to the council. Mayor Keith Higgins tells KMMO News that a representative for Pleasant Station presented a proposal to build storage units on West 9th Street. Higgins says that the council will review city ordinances to determine if and how the business can proceed with their proposal. The second proposal came from Aubrey Famuliner, who presented an idea on a use for a city-owned lot near the intersection of Washington and Main. Higgins said the council took Famuliner’s idea under advisement.

A representative for My Hometown also provided an update on projects around Carrollton, including painting crosswalks around the square. Higgins notes that the group has been reviewing types of paint to ensure the markings are long-lasting. He adds that the group plans to mark the crosswalks around the downtown area in dark red, with white stripes.
