Vinnie Pasquantino got things going for Kansas City in the first with his first homer of the day, a two run shot into the right field bleachers. Salvador Perez connected on a two-run homer of his own in the third to increase the Kansas City lead.
Pasquantino struck again in the fifth, launching another two-run blast, this one over the wall in right-center field.
Tyler Tolbert got in on the fun for the Royals an inning later, as he sent one out over the left field wall for his first career home run.
Seth Lugo turned in another quality start, giving two runs over six innings with six strikeouts.
Kansas City improves to 50-53, ten games back of Detroit in the AL Central and four games back of the wild card. The Royals have an off day on Thursday before opening a series with the Cleveland Guardians on Friday. First pitch from Kauffman Stadium is set for 7:10 p.m.
