The National Weather Services has announced that two heat advisories will be in effect this weekend throughout the KMMO listening area.

The first advisory will take place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 26. The second advisory will take place from 11 a.m. Sunday, July 27 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29.

Heat index values of up to 110 degrees are expected this weekend. Residents should keep in mind that hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Several community buildings in our area, including the Salt Fork YMCA in Marshall and a number of city halls and senior centers, are available as cooling facilities. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has a map showing available cooling centers.
