Paul Arnold Bethel, 74, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, July 14, 2025, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Born November 14, 1950, in Des Moines, IA, he was the son of the late Kenneth Robert Bethel and Betty Lou Spencer Bethel.  Paul graduated from West Port High School in Kansas City, MO. In 1969 he enlisted in the United States Army. He completed U.S. Army Aviation School and was a Crew Chief on Huey helicopter in the Army along with being a door gunner. On November 18, 1970, he married Carolyn Joyce Nash on the base at Fort Rucker, AL. Paul and Carolyn lived in Marshall for 50 years. Paul was a master mason, and he was very proud of the many restoration projects he was involved with throughout the years. He was a police officer for the City of Slater, and he enjoyed coaching baseball for many years. Paul was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall where he taught CCD classes.

In addition to his wife Carolyn who survives of the home, Paul is survived by six children: Tracey Hartley of Kansas City, Kimberly Thompson (Paul) of Marshall, Christopher Bethel (Jennifer) of Marshall, Kip Bethel (Jannifer) of Marshall, Susan Bethel of Linn, MO, and Roman Bethel (Shelby) of Marshall; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; half-sister, Donna McNeley of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Helen Bethel of Marshall; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Bethel.
