A Marshall woman is facing charges for a pursuit and crash that took place in September 2024.

According to a probable cause statement, the Saline County Sheriff’s Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding on West College Street in Marshall. The vehicle sped away as law enforcement attempted a traffic stop, leading to a high-speed chase at more than 80 miles per hour. The suspect vehicle lost control and crashed into a garage, causing substantial damage to the residence and vehicle.

Authorities arrested the driver, identified as Frances Fernandez-Hernandez, who was a juvenile at the time of the accident. Hernandez admitted she stole the vehicle from her parents and did not have a valid driver’s license. A passenger in the vehicle told authorities that she begged for Hernandez to stop the vehicle multiple times during the chase.

Hernandez has been charged with felonies for aggravated fleeing, kidnapping in the second degree, and tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree. Charges were filed on Friday, July 25. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.
