Marshall Municipal Utilities (MMU) has received a national commendation from the American Public Power Association for its support in electric power restoration efforts in Springfield, Missouri.

MMU sent four people to assist City Utilities of Springfield after a severe storm system caused widespread power outages on June 30. The crew returned to Marshall on July 4th.

The storm, which struck Springfield on April 29, left approximately 40,000 City Utilities’ customers without power at the peak of the event. High winds downed trees, utility poles, and power lines.

MMU General Manager Jeff Bergstrom says he was thankful MMU was able to assist and highlights the benfit for being a part of the American Public Power Association’s Mutual Aid Network.

MMU participates in the American Public Power Association’s Mutual Aid Network and the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA) Mutual Aid Program, which coordinate with utilities and authorities during widespread power outages.
