A Pettis County Grand Jury has indicted a Windsor man on multiple assault charges involving a motor vehicle.

The jury handed down 21 counts Friday, July 25 against 48-year-old Jeremy James Shacklett, including four counts of second-degree assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, leaving the scene of an accident, and property damage, as well as driving under the influence and driving with a revoked or suspended license. According to a probable cause statement, Shacklett is accused of driving a Chrysler into a vehicle containing four people, including children age 15 and 13, the afternoon of June 6. A passenger in the car called authorities to report the Chrysler following closely as they drove on Route B from Windsor to Green Ridge. The caller then accused Shacklett of rear-ending their vehicle several time as they slowed down through Green Ridge, before forcing them off the road.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol located the Chrysler a short time later off Lake Road, along with Shacklett. Troopers on the scene say they noticed the odor of intoxicants from Shacklett and placed him under arrest, then took him to a nearby hospital, where according to troopers, tests determined that Shacklett’s blood-alcohol content was over the legal limit. Authorities noted that Shacklett has multiple convictions in Missouri and Kansas, including driving with an invalid license, driving while intoxicated, and domestic assault.

Shacklett is out on $50,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for the morning of Aug. 18 in Pettis County Circuit Court.
