The Saline County Commission has accepted the lone bid received for a storm siren near the Arrow Rock State Historic Site.

The acceptance of Blue Valley Public Safety’s bid of $26,947.06 was announced at Wednesday morning’s session. The bid had been taken under advisement at the previous commission meeting July 16. During his report, Emergency Management director Brad Hinz reported issues with the siren in Malta Bend during last week’s siren test. He says a reset of the siren has occurred and should be re-tested later this week.

In other business, commissioners approved a courthouse lawn use request from the Saline County Historical Society for their picnic Sept. 13. They also authorized the destruction of four office chairs and outdated computer equipment including keyboards and monitors from the Sheriff’s Office, and accepted the first quarter report from the assessor’s office. Lastly, commissioners approved the hire of Owen Scott for the sheriff’s communications division.
