The Concordia R-2 School District Board of Education approved two transportation contracts during a board retreat held July 23.
The first of these contracts was the district’s annual agreement with Fowler Bus Company, which has been the district’s transportation provider for the past several years. The board approved the contract with a six percent increase from last year.
The second contract was an agreement with the Santa Fe School District to help transport students to the Rainbow Center, which is a special education school in Blue Springs. Superintendent Theresa Christian says this partnership will help area school districts share costs for transporting their students to this facility.
Christian says Santa Fe will be the fiduciary agent with this contract, with Concordia R-2 reimbursing Santa Fe for a portion of the transportation costs in 2025-2026.
