England’s Aston Villa prevailed 2-1 over St Louis City on Wednesday, July 30 in a friendly at Energizer Park, scoring goals in each half.
The Premier League side fielded two different lineups in the game, each of which was able to outwit City keeper Roman Bürki. Morgan Rogers opened the scoring in the 14th minute, followed by Ollie Watkins’ header in the 56th minute. City got on the board three minutes later when Cedric Teuchert sent a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Aston Villa will have three more preseason friendlies before returning to England for the start of their Premier League and UEFA Europa League campaigns, while City will have their next game Aug. 9 at home against Nashville.
