Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall says they responded to a bomb threat they received Thursday, July 31.

In a statement, the hospital says they implemented emergency response protocols once they received the threat, putting the hospital on lockdown for a period of time. Administrators on call, including the hospital’s head of emergency preparedness, worked with area and state emergency responders to gauge the legitimacy of the threat. Bomb dogs searched the entire facility and perimeter before giving the all-clear and allowing the hospital to resume normal operation.

CEO Angy Littrell commended hospital staff for their response to the situation and working closely with area first responders. She stressed that patient and staff safety remains Fitzgibbon’s first priority.
