
Josephine Wilhite, 103, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Marshall, MO, died Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at St. Luke’s South in Overland Park, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at First Christian Church in Marshall with Rev. Randal DeMasters and William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Hazel Grove Cemetery near Herndon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Born December 27, 1921, in Pettis County, MO, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Pritchard and Adelia Ossenbrink Pritchard. Josephine lived in Saline County most of her life and was a 1939 graduate of Sweet Springs High School. On October 12, 1947, she married John M. Wilhite who preceded her in death on April 30, 2010. Following graduation, she attended beauty school and was a hair dresser from 1939 until her retirement at the age of 95. Josephine was a longtime active member of First Christian Church in Marshall where she was a member of the New Century Sunday school class, Lilly Bates Circle, served as a deacon, served on the bereavement committee, as well as numerous other boards and committees within the church.
Survivors include two children, Jo Elaine Smith (Tracy) and Mike Wilhite (Jo), all of Overland Park, KS; eight grandchildren: Tim Smith (Kate), Todd Smith, Sarah Lager (Brandon), Chris Wilhite (Dana), Lori Albert (Kevin), Stephanie MacLeod (Darrin), Jennifer Brown (Bob) and Michelle Wilhite (Mitch Bonander); 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine Tonjes of Prairie Village, KS; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
