A Marshall man is in custody after false bomb threat was reported at Fitzgibbon Hospital on Thursday, July 31.

According to a probable cause statement filed by the Marshall Police Department, the call was reported at the facility at 10:31 p.m. Thursday, with the caller saying “you got a bomb threat” before ending the call. Emergency response protocols were activated and the hospital was put on a brief lock down. Bomb dogs searched the entire facility and perimeter before giving the all-clear and allowing the hospital to resume normal operation.

Police began investigating the call, tracing the caller ID to a Marshall resident named David Washington. Police made contact with Washington outside his residence and placed him under arrest. Washington denied ever calling the facility, but the call log on his phone did show an a call to the facility at 10:31 that night.

Washington has been charged with a felony for making a terrorist threat in the first degree. No bond has been allowed.
