A Versailles man sustained serious injury after his personal watercraft struck a bridge pier at the Lake of the Ozarks on Thursday, July 31.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred around 7:35 p.m. at the ten-mile mark of the Gravois Arm, near Route 5 in Gravois Mills. According to the patrol, the 22-year-old man was steering his watercraft west when the collision occurred, throwing him from the vessel. He was taken to a Lake Ozark hospital for treatment. Troopers say the man was wearing the proper safety device at the time of the collision.
