The Sedalia Police Department invites residents to enroll in the 2025 Citizens Police Academy, a six-week, hands-on program designed to deepen public understanding of law enforcement operations.

Sessions will be held Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning September 30 and concluding with a graduation ceremony on November 4.

The academy provides an inside look at the people, policies, and practices of the Sedalia Police Department. Participants will take part in interactive demonstrations and real-world scenarios, including traffic stop practicals, use of force training, investigations overview, building search tactics, crime scene processing, drone technology in policing, and K9 unit demonstrations.

Interested participants must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check. To apply, participants will need to fill out the application here. The completed application will need to be submitted to the Sedalia Police Department at 300 West 3rd Street.
