An ATV rollover accident in northern Moniteau County claimed the life of a California man Sunday, Aug. 3.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the 74-year-old was steering the vehicle north on Route KK five miles north of California, when at around 8:30 a.m., the ATV went across the center line and off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then rolled over, ejecting the driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene about an hour later. Troopers noted that he had not been wearing the proper safety equipment at the time of the crash.
