A woman from Mayview sustained serious injury when she was thrown from her vehicle after it crashed off a Lafayette County highway Sunday, Aug. 3.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the 57-year-old was driving east on Route U about seven miles southeast of Odessa, when just after 8 p.m., her SUV swerved east of Steelman Road, crossed the roadway and overturned. The driver was taken to a Kansas City area hospital for treatment of her serious injuries. Troopers add that she was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
