Sporting Kansas City is welcoming center back Alan Montes on loan from Mexico’s Club Necaxa for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old Montes has scored 10 goals in 119 club appearances, including four goals in 57 Liga MX contests with Necaxa and Monterrey. Montes appeared for Necaxa in last summer’s Leagues Cup, gaining experience against MLS clubs Minnesota, San Jose, and Seattle. Pending his physical and paperwork, Montes will occupy one of Sporting’s international spots on the club’s roster. Sporting also have the option to turn the loan into a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

After a week off, SKC will return to action Saturday evening when they host San Diego.
