A Sedalia man was arrested after stealing a vehicle and leading Pettis County authorities on a multi-jurisdictional pursuit on Tuesday, August 5.
According to a release, officers with the Sedalia Police Department developed information regarding the location of a green 2025 Jeep Wrangler that had been reported stolen Tuesday morning from the 1000 block of South Limit Avenue. The vehicle was believed to be located at an address on Green Road in Pettis County. This information was relayed to the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to the area and located the stolen vehicle. When contact was attempted, the suspect fled the scene, initiating a pursuit at approximately 6:51 p.m.
As the pursuit continued toward Sedalia city limits, Pettis County Deputies requested assistance from Sedalia Police in deploying tire deflation devices. When the suspect drove off the roadway to avoid the tire deflation efforts, officers briefly joined the pursuit but lost visual contact with the vehicle. At approximately 7:15 p.m., Sedalia officers located the unoccupied stolen vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Walker Circle. Working collaboratively with deputies from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office, officers quickly determined the suspect had entered a nearby apartment in an attempt to evade capture. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Joshua Gresham, was located inside and taken into custody without incident.
Officers recovered keys to the stolen vehicle along with burglary tools. It was later determined that the suspect had unlawfully entered an occupied residence on Walker Circle. The residents were home at the time of the intrusion but were not harmed.
Gresham has been charged with felonies for burglary in the first degree, stealing, tampering with a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing, armed criminal action, resisting arrest, and possession of burglary tools. Bond has been set at $100,000 with the special condition of GPS monitoring upon release. Gresham is also prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.
