The Kansas City Royals allowed all six Boston Red Sox runs with two outs, dooming the Royals to a 6-2 loss Tuesday, Aug. 5 at Fenway Park, as well as snapping KC’s four-series win streak.

Jarren Duran stung the Royals again early, hitting an RBI double in the third that scored Romy Gonzalez. The Royals then tied the game up in the fourth when Maikel Garcia hit a ground ball to left field the scored Bobby Witt Jr. A two-out single in the sixth by Trevor Story brought in two runs, and the Royals could only respond in the seventh with Garcia scoring on Randal Grichuk’s double to left field. Boston would put the game away in the bottom of the seventh, as two John Schreiber walks and a single loaded the bases for Wilyer Abreu and Story to hit RBI singles.

While Schriber was charged with three runs on three hits and two walks for his 0.2 innings, the loss was tagged on recent arrival Ryan Bergert. The former Padre went 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts. The Royals once again could not figure out Garrett Crochet, who notched his 13th win of the season with eight strikeouts across seven innings. He allowed one walk to go with the two runs on four hits.

The Royals slip to 56-58, 9.5 games behind Detroit in the AL Central, as well as four games behind the Yankees for the third wild card spot. It’ll be up to Michael Wacha to prevent a sweep of the Royals, as he’ll get the start Wednesday evening. Pregame is at 5:30 p.m. on KMMO-FM 102.9, with first pitch at 6:10 p.m.
