A third delay has been announced by the Missouri Department of Transportation for a bridge replacement project east of Salisbury.
MoDOT’s contractors Capital Paving and Construction, along with engineers Horner and Shifrin, say they will now begin the project to replace the Route PP bridge over the Middle Fork of the Little Chariton River on Aug. 18. The 66-year-old bridge had closed in June after it failed an inspection. This latest project in the Northwest Bridge Bundle was initially scheduled to begin July 28, but contractor schedule changes have resulted in a new start date. The completion date is now January 2026.
The replacement bridge is part of the Northwest Bridge Bundle, which aims to replace or rehabilitate 31 bridges across North Central Missouri over a two-year span, including 12 in Chariton County.
