A Mizzou student from Warren County is the new queen of the Missouri State Fair.

Bailey Schneider earned the highest marks from the judges, claiming the tiara at the annual queen contest Thursday, Aug. 7 to become the 67th queen in fair history. Schneider says she was inspired by many members of her family to pursue the crown.

Schneider has shown hogs for several years at the fair, with one of her biggest memories made in the Swine Barn.

Schneider is pursuing a degree in agricultural communication with a minor in ag business policy. She has this advice for young women wishing to participate in their local pageant:

Schneider also won the speech portion of the contest. She will represent the fair over the next year, and receive a two-thousand dollar scholarship. Her selection was attended by Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, believed to be the first time a sitting governor was present for the coronation of a State Fair Queen.

A total of 33 young women competed in Thursday’s queen contest.
