
A Sedalia man is facing two felony drug charges after a traffic stop initiated by the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, August 7.
According to a probable cause statement, a Pettis County deputy conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of West 32ns Street and South Grand Avenue in Sedalia. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Justin Denny, of Sedalia. Denny did not have his driver’s license or proof of insurance. A K9 unit was utilized during the stop, which alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
Law enforcement located a white crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, a black scale, and plastic baggies inside the vehicle. The methamphetamine recovered weighed a total of 23.2 grams. Denny has five prior convictions for drug-related offenses, including several from an arrest back in March 2025.
Denny has been charged with felonies for trafficking drugs in the second degree and delivery of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $125,000 cash or surety.
Denny was arraigned on Friday, August 8. His next hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
