Kansas City Royals pitching combined for nine strikeouts and one grounder into a double play, shutting out the Minnesota Twins 2-0 on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Noah Cameron was an out shy of six innings, but was able to create the double play situation. In his 5.2 innings, the rookie struck out four while allowing six hits and a pair of walks, getting the win. Angel Zerpa, Hunter Harvey, and Lucas Erceg each recorded a strikeout, while Carlos Estévez gained his 29th save of the year with two strikeouts in the ninth to close out the game.

The Royals took the lead in the third inning, when Maikel Garcia doubled home Kyle Isbel. Jonathan India added insurance in the ninth when his single scored Adam Frazier. Garcia went two-for-four from the leadoff spot, while Isbel also had multiple hits in the game.

Now 58-59, the Royals trail Detroit in the AL Central by 8.5 games and the Yankees for the third wild card spot by 4.5 games. Their visit to Minnesota concludes Sunday afternoon with Ryan Bergert getting the start. First pitch is at 12:05 p.m., with pregame at 11:30 a.m. on KMMO AM 1300.
