The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a Warsaw man died after his pickup crossed the center line of U.S. Route 65 on Friday morning and struck an oncoming semi-truck.

According to the Patrol’s report, the 80-year-old was in the northbound lane of Route 65 about three miles south of Warsaw, when just before 7 a.m. his pickup crossed the center line and into the path of a Kenworth, resulting into the collision. The man’s pickup then skidded across the northbound lane and overturned into a nearby ditch, while the semi came to a stop in the shoulder. The Warsaw man was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. The semi’s driver, a 22-year-old from Fortuna, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
