The St. Louis Cardinals took an early lead, but the Colorado Rockies mounted a comeback in the ninth to take the series with a 6-5 win.

Pedro Pages opened the scoring in the second with a two-run double. Colorado responded in the fourth with an RBI single from Ezequiel Tovar, but the Cardinals would get that run back after Lars Nootbar’s 13th home run of the season.

After another run by the Rockies in the fifth, Alec Burleson responded with a two-run homer to right field.

Colorado continued to chip away, scoring runs in the sixth and seventh to cut the lead to one.

JoJo Romero came on to close out the game in the ninth, but walked Kyle Karros to lead off the inning. A few batters later, Hunter Goodman came in to pinch-hit, blasting a go-ahead, two-run home run to give Colorado it’s first lead. St. Louis was unable to respond, going down in order in the bottom of the ninth.

Michael McGreevy went six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits, getting a no-decision for his efforts.

The Cardinals fall to 61-61 on the season, now 16 games back of Milwaukee. After a day off on Thursday, St. Louis will welcome the New York Yankees on Friday for the start of a three games series at Busch Stadium.
