The Northwest Bridge Bundle project to replace the Chariton County Route PP Middle Fork Little Chariton River Bridge, near Salisbury, has been delayed again due to contractor schedule changes. The project is now planned to begin on Tuesday, September 2.

The contractor was scheduled to begin the replacement project on July 28. The bridge has been closed since June 17 due to structural deterioration. The bridge is now anticipated to reopen in late January 2026.

During construction, motorists should continue to seek an alternate route around the closure. The Middle Fork Little Chariton River Bridge was built in 1959 and has a traffic volume of approximately 426 vehicles per day.

This project is a part of the Northwest Bridge Bundle, which is a project that will replace or rehabilitate 31 poor condition bridges in north central Missouri and bring them up to current standards. The full list of bridges to be replaced can be found on the Northwest Bridge Bundle web page.
