
Gretta Louise Colclasure, 103, of Marshall, MO, died Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Westport Estates Assisted Living in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Higginsville City Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Gretta was born November 8, 1921, in Mayview, MO. She was the daughter of Charles A. Newport and Clotilda Canaday Newport. Gretta and her twin sister, Grace, graduated from Odessa High School in 1941. In 1946 she married Glee H. Maude who preceded her in death on November 25, 1962, together they had one son, Frederick. Gretta married James L. Colclasure in 1971, who preceded her in death on May 14, 2002.
Over the years Gretta loved traveling, volunteering for different organizations, spending time at senior centers playing cards, working in her garden and spending time with family. She was always known in her neighborhood with her twin sister as the golden girls as they would sit together on Gretta’s front porch and watch the happenings in the area.
Survivors include her brother, Vernon D. Newport of Kansas City, MO; stepchildren: Larry Colclasure of Texas, Gloria Henderson of Texas and Pat Pesci of Virgina; as well as 12 grandchildren including Lori A. Sutton (Scott) of Liberty, MO and Lee Ferris of Chino, CA, 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Gretta was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Nina M. Newport, Grace Clemens (twin) and Wilma Babylon; two brothers, Chester L. Newport and Boyd A. Newport; both husbands, her son, Frederick C. Maude; stepdaughter, Sylvia Hartsoe; and her grandson, Christopher L. Orpin.
