A second excursion west awaits the Kansas City Chiefs as their preseason schedule continues, this time paying a visit to the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, Aug. 15 at Lumen Field.

The Chiefs wrapped up training camp Wednesday in St Joseph ahead of their trip to Seattle. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes says the team’s newest additions are ready to prove themselves.

“You know how hungry these guys are,” Mahomes said during Wednesday’s press conference.  “They started in OTAs.  The guys are ready to compete, they’re ready to get out there and prove who we are.  We have a lot of young guys, and it’s bringing a lot of energy to the team.  I’m excited for the team and excited to get out there.  We have a good last few preseason games, then we have a great early schedule, so the guys are ready to get out there and showcase who we are.”

Mahomes added that while he enjoyed another year of practices at Missouri Western State University, he’s ready to return home and continues preparations for the regular season.

Adds Mahomes: “I like it out here, I’m going to be honest with you.  It’s the best practice field that you could possibly have.  The weather kinda held off, except for one day, it was good weather all year long.  I could do without the dorm.  But everything else, I had fun out here.  I’m excited to get home now and see my kids, but at the same time, you gotta get away and just focus on football.  It locks you in when you go back, you’re in football season and not offseason mode.  It’s good to get away for a little bit and focus just on football, but I’m definitely excited to see the kids when I get back.”

Pregame coverage from the Chiefs Radio Network begins at 8 p.m. on KMMO-FM 102.9, with kickoff at 9 p.m.
