Many of Missouri’s most successful young agriculturalists will have their exhibits up for sale Saturday, Aug. 16 at a pair of auctions at the Missouri State Fair.

The annual Sale of Champions will take place that afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall, with the top exhibitors watching their livestock go up for sale, then delivering speeches and thanking those who have made their success possible. That includes Thomas Limbach of Miller County, whose goat Nibbles won grand champion last week.
.

Limbach last appeared in the Sale of Champions in 2021 with the reserve grand champion goat. He has this advice for fellow exhibitors.

Before the Sale of Champions, the Best of Missouri Sale will take place at 11:15 a.m., featuring the top meat carcass entries, along with hams and bacons. Among the sellers is Kendall Brewer of Sweet Springs, whose barrow meat carcass was recently named grand champion, and Callen Fosnow of Jamestown, exhibitor of the grand champion lamb carcass.

Proceeds from both sales will benefit the Missouri State Fair Foundation’s Youth in Agriculture scholarships. In addition to bids made at the sale, each champion exhibitor will benefit from contributions made by Hometown Supporters, which can be made on the Missouri State Fair’s website.

KMMO will stream both sales live this Saturday.
