
Supporters of Missouri Youth in Agriculture raised over $332,000 through their purchases at Saturday’s Best of Missouri Sale and the Sale of Champions at the Missouri State Fair.
Three of the lots featured grand champion entries by members of the Sweet Springs FFA Chapter. At the Sale of Champions, the grand champion barrow exhibited by Ty Murphy sold for $32,000. The Missouri State Fair Concessionaires were the winning bidder. The grand champion lamb exhibited by Jillian Vogelsmeier went for $26,500, and was purchased by the Missouri Sheep Producers Association along with several groups associated with the University of Missouri’s College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. The grand champion barrow carcass, exhibited by Kendall Brewer, raised $8125. BTC Bank was the winning bidder with $2500, while hometown support for Brewer totaled $5625.
The Sale of Champions raised over $244,000, while the Best of Missouri Sale netted over $88,000. Additional Hometown Support contributions can be made Sunday on the Missouri State Fair’s website. Proceeds benefit the Missouri State Fair Foundation’s Youth in Agriculture Scholarship program.
