The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Olathe, Kansas man after a reported home invasion reported Sunday morning.

According to a probable cause statement, authorities responded to a reported home invasion at a residence on Highway 135 in Cooper County at around 7:38 a.m. The homeowner reportedly came home and found the subject, identified as Rivanold Truman Tegomo Tekombo, already in the house’s basement. Tekombo allegedly pointed a firearm at the homeowner, but soon placed the rifle back in the gun cabinet. The homeowner then ran from the house and called the authorities. The homeowner confirmed there were no hostages taken during the incident.

A perimeter was set around the house and a standoff occurred as authorities observed Tekombo roaming the house through the windows. Tekombo exited the house at 9:35 and was taken into custody.

Prior to the incident, troopers located Tekombo’s vehicle abandoned in the roadway on Missouri 135, south of Martinsville Road.

Tekombo has been charged with felonies for burglary in the first degree, kidnapping in the second degree, and armed criminal action. He is due for an initial appearance at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
