The Moberly City Council authorized applications for grants for the police and fire department during its meeting on Monday, August 18.
Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey says the first applications is for the Emergency Management Performance Grant Direct Assistance Program, which is a 50/50 grant that will reimburse the city for Fire Chief Donald Ryan’s services.
The second application was for a Missouri Department of Public Safety grant to complete radio upgrades for the police department.
This grant would cover 100 percent of the upgrade cost if Moberly is awarded.
In other news, the council approved the appointment of Tim Brubaker to the Moberly Public Building Corporation to fill the unexpired term of Jerry Jeffrey. The term expires in 2026.
