
A two-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 36 through eastern Linn County on Tuesday, Aug. 19 resulted in one fatality.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a pickup driven by a 32-year-old man from Ashland was traveling east on the highway, when at around 3:40 p.m., the truck struck the back of a semi truck that had pulled onto the shoulder. The collision caused the pickup to overturn, causing serious injuries to the driver, who was taken to a nearby hospital. A 45-year-old passenger in the pickup from Holts Summit was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi had no reported injuries.
