The Missouri Valley College Men’s and Women’s soccer programs both finished in the top 15 of the NAIA Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Polls, released on Wednesday.
The MVC men set at No. 9 in the poll, coming off a final record of 16-3-3 last season. The Vikings captured an undefeated Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season title, the program’s third-straight championship, and advanced to the National tournament site for the eleventh time since 2013. Missouri Valley extends its streak of consecutive polls ranked to 51-straight, dating back to Nov. 6, 2019. This is the third-longest active streak in the NAIA. Head Coach Vladimir Simic enters his 24th season leading the program, and reached the 300-career win mark last season.
The MVC women start at No. 12 in the coaches’ poll, up two spots from the final poll released at the conclusion of the 2024 season. The team is coming off a 15-5-1 overall record, which included an undefeated regular season Heart of America Athletic Conference championship, a fifth-straight appearance in the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship, and advancement of the National site for the first time since 1991. This ranking is the highest for the Vikings since the 2022 season.
The women’s team opens the 2025 season at 12 p.m. Saturday against No. 8 Cumberlands inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium, while the men will host Columbia (Mo.) on Tuesday, August 26, at 7 p.m.
