The Moberly City Council passed an ordinance setting the tax levy for the next fiscal year.
Community Relations Manager Scott McGarvey includes $.77 for the General Fund and $.35 for the Park Fund, with the total rate being $1.12 per $100 assessed valuation.
The council also approved an ordinance to impose a 911 tax on landline telephones for emergency telephone services. McGarvey says the original ordinance setting this tax was adopted in 1994. He notes that collections for the tax have dwindled over the years.
The council wanted to reiterate that this is not an additional tax, but a renewal.
The council then approved a cooperative agreement with the Vilalge of Renick for sewer inspection services. The City of Moberly will be assisting with inspecting a section of Renick’s sewer main using its CCTV equipment.
