The Slater City Council held a discussion over recent complaints about people riding electronic scooters on the city’s sidewalks, particularly on the sidewalks along Main Street.

Slater Mayor Terry Jordan addressed these complaints during the meeting of the city council on Tuesday, August 19. According to city ordinance, electronic scooters and golf carts are prohibited from operating on city sidewalks at all times. This is a citable offense, and Jordan says the city is prepared to enforce the city’s ordinance.

Jordan noted that the city is mainly concerned with enforcing the ordinance on the sidewalks along Main Street. Jordan also spoke about regulations for driving golf carts on city streets. The vehicle must pass a city inspection, be insured, and be operated by a licensed driver in order to be driven on the city’s roadways.
