
The Blackburn Board of Aldermen is holding a Public Impeachment Hearing for Mayor Kevin Lawson.
The board discussed the possibility of impeaching Lawson during its August 11 meeting, but didn’t make any formal decision on the issue at that time. Ward 2 Alderman Bobby Steffens has been fulfilling Lawson’s responsibilities and is currently serving as board president.
The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, September 4 at Blackburn City Hall.
The Board of Aldermen is also holding a public hearing to set its tax rate on Tuesday, August 26. The proposed total rate for the city is $.8787 per $100 assessed valuation. The public hearing gets underway at 7 p.m.
