A teenager from Fortuna was flown to a Columbia hospital after suffering serious injuries in a crash just west of Versailles on Thursday, Aug. 21.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that the teenager was in his sedan, stopped behind a pickup that was also trying to turn left onto Route T from westbound Route 52. At around 8:45 a.m. the sedan was struck from behind by another pickup that an 18-year-old from Versailles was driving. The collision resulted in the sedan striking the rear of the pickup in front of it. Troopers say the pickup from Versailles failed to slow down or stop for the traffic stopped in front of him. The Fortuna teenager was flown to Columbia, while no injuries were reported for the other two drivers. All three drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, according to troopers.
