After spending the preseason with the New York Jets, tackle Derrick Nnadi is returning to the Chiefs in a deal reported Sunday, Aug. 24 by multiple outlets including ESPN.

Nnadi will return to Arrowhead, where he’s spent all seven seasons of his career. The Chiefs and Jets agreed to swap conditional picks in the 2027 draft, with KC picking up a seventh-round pick while the Jets get a sixth-round selection. Nnadi had signed as a free agent for the Jets, after the Chiefs selected him in the third round of the 2018 draft. He started 87 of the 115 games he’s played in, recording 223 tackles, including seven for a loss and five sacks. Nnadi played 66 defensive snaps for the Jets in the preseason, and was in prime position to be traded after the arrival of Harrison Phillips and Jowon Briggs. Now, Nnadi returns to a familiar system and fills a key interior lineman position in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense.

All NFL teams must be down to 53 players by Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. Central.
