University of Missouri President Mun Choi and Director of Athletics Laird Veatch has released a statement urging students and fans to not rush the field after games for the 2025 football season.
The message comes ahead of Mizzou’s season opener against Central Arkansas on Thursday, August 28. According to Choi and Veatch, Mizzou will be fined $500,000 by the SEC after each offense, with that money going directly to Mizzou’s opponent.
In a statement released by the college, it reads quote: “We understand that the excitement of victory can make it tempting to rush the field, but protecting our team, our fans, and our University requires all of us to do our part. Should a field incursion occur, security personnel will be stationed along the stadium using cameras to record and identify perpetrators. Perpetrators will be held to account. Penalties include, but are not limited to, expulsion from the venue, cancellation of future tickets without refund and prosecution.”
The Tigers are kicking off the 2025 season against the Bears at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Faurot Field.
