The Odessa Board of Aldermen passed both readings of a bill to set the tax rates for 2025 during its meeting on Monday, August 25.
A public hearing was held prior to the start of the meeting, but no public comments were made. The city is seeing an increase in its total assessed valuation, from almost $67 million ($66,801,128) in 2024 to about $74.6 million ($74,681,752) in 2025.
The city’s tax rate was set at $.6780 per $100 assessed valuation. City Administrator Shawna Davis says this rate includes $.5364 for the General Fund and $.1416 for the Park Fund.
The Board of Aldermen also approved an amendment to the city’s Code of Ordinances regarding Planned Unit Developments (PUD). Davis says this ordinance establishes regulations developers have to follow.
The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 8.
