The St. Louis Cardinals fell behind after a first inning home run, but rallied late to take down the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1 and split the four-game series.

St. Louis starter Miles Mikolas gave up the early homer to Tommy Pham, but then settled in to complete five innings, allowing four hits and a walk.

The Cardinals tied the game in the third with an RBI double from Ivan Herrera.

The game remained tied until the seventh, when Thomas Saggese gave the Redbirds their first lead with an RBI double. Jordan Walker gave the Cardinals some insurance with a two-run blast to center field, his fifth homer of the year.

Kyle Leahy earned the win, pitching two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. JoJo Romero secured his fifth save of the season.

St. Louis improves to 66-69, 17 games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central and seven games back of New York in the Wild Card. The Cardinals will next face the Cincinnati Reds for a three game series at Great American Ball Park on Friday. Matthew Liberatore will get the start. First pitch will be at 5:40 p.m.
