The Fayette Board of Aldermen are continuing to review information presented at Tuesday’s meeting concerning the city’s insurance policies.

Aldermen heard from Caleb Walker of Heritage Insurance, who presented to the board details on the price and coverage levels of several of the city’s policies. City administrator Deanna Cooper says the city is anticipating a net increase in cost of seven percent.

In action taken Tuesday night, the board then granted permission for Bekki Galloway to apply for a community forestry cost share grant on behalf of Fayette.

The Board of Aldermen accepted the tax rate for the next fiscal year as presented at $0.5993 cents per $100 of assessed valuation. However, a number of items were tabled, including an ordinance that would increase the trash collection fee to $17.50 per month starting in October. Aldermen also tabled a vote on a proposed manhole installation in the Gerlt subdivision, as well as amendments to the city’s vicious dogs ordinance. The board also delayed consideration of an ordinance concerning short-term rentals, as no recommendation had formally been made by the city’s planning and zoning board.
