The Pettis County R-V Board of Education accepted as presented the district’s updated tax rate for the new school year, showing a marginal increase in the rate’s ceiling.
Supt. Dr Amy Fagg presented the rate’s calculations at the board’s Aug. 20 meeting, showing an increased assessed valuation by $1.4 million to $39,771,388. However, the district saw its incidental rate rise by less than two-thirds of a cent to $3.6717 per $100 of assessed value, while the debt service remained at $0.4922, resulting in a new tax rate of $4.1639. Fagg said no one offered comment during the public hearing that preceded the meeting.
Also at last week’s meeting, the Northwest R-V board began discussions on the prospect of establishing a new wrestling team, which would co-op with Otterville. Fagg says the discussions are in the early stages and would continue next month. The board also updated the district’s policy on student cell phone use to align with the new state law.
