The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce has announced that the city of Carrollton has been selected by the Global Roots Project to host a large, mosaic mural.

Chamber of Commerce Director Jeffrey Martin says the Chamber applied for the program in February. He notes that Carrollton is one of 15 sites in North America chosen for a mural.

The mural will be displayed on the exterior of Carroll County Historical Museum and will be comprised of more than 2,500 tiles with different pieces of artwork. Martin says he’s enjoyed seeing the community come together to paint tiles and support the project.

Artist Lewis Lavoie will be in charge of putting the mosaic mural together using each of the tiles. The final mural is expected to be 24 by 12 feet. The mural will be unveiled at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, October 23, at the museum.
