A Higginsville man was seriously injured in a crash along a Benton County roadway on Friday, August 29.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a 34-year-old driver from Higginsville ran off Highway M in Benton County, skidded sideways, and struck a tree.

The driver was taken to Columbia Hospital by life flight for treatment of serious injuries. Troopers report the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The crash was reported at 9 p.m. Friday on Highway M, near Arrowhead Road in Benton County.
