David F. Menefee, 89, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at his home.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 8, 2025 at 2 P.M. at the First Christian Church of Sedalia, with Rev. Chad McMullin officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Sterling Green, Greg Ditzfeld, Milton “Bud” Scott, Bill Curry, Janet Proctor, and Max Mitchell serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be Monday from 10 A.M. until Noon at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia.  Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Sedalia or Sedalia Lions Club in care of the funeral chapel.

Born August 7, 1936 in Sedalia, he was the son of the late Henry T. “Hank” and Jane Farrell Menefee.  On September 2, 1967, at the First Christian Church on Sedalia, he married Vera Lou Leach, and she preceded him in death on December 4, 2011.

He is survived by a son, Derreck F. Menefee, M.D. of Tupelo, Mississippi; a sister-in-law, Katherine Menefee of Gladstone; Derreck’s Godparents, Milton and Polly Scott of Springfield; and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Menefee.

Mr. Menefee was a longtime active member of the First Christian Church of Sedalia.  He was a 1954 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, and an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.  He had recently received his 50-Year Membership Pin in the Sedalia Lions Club, in which he was actively involved.  He was in the U.S. Army Reserves.  He was an agent for many years for the Maggard and Mateja Insurance Company until his retirement.
